Organ donation
Donation from a living donor means healthy donors, as opposed to brain-dead donors, donate part of liver or one of two kidneys to someone else.
Type | Description |
---|---|
Donation by a relative | Donation will be approved only if is verified that the donor is donating the organ without compensation based on the family relation certificate. (Acceptable relation: relative until third cousin twice-removed, relatives by marriage until cousins) |
Donation by a non-relative | Donation will be approved only if it is verified, after thorough review, based on objective and valid documents that prove pure intent of the donor without financial compensation. |
Pure donation | The donor donates his or her organ without designating the recipient (consent of family is required) |
Organ exchange | Waiting recipients registered at a medical institution performing transplants may donate organs for each other without financial compensation |
